'It was love at first sight': EastEnders' Matt Lapinskas speaks about his feelings for co-star Shona McGarty

He plays the lovable rogue, the unlucky-in-love boy on the Square who is always ducking and diving.
But when it comes to matters of the heart off-screen, Matt Lapinskas is a lot more fortunate.
The EastEnders actor, who plays Anthony Moon, has gushed about falling in love with his co-star Shona McGarty who plays Whitney Dean.

Matt, 22, who is set to leave the BBC soap next month after his character was axed, said it was love at first sight.
He said: 'I had seen Shona on TV and always thought she had a gorgeous smile, but it is all about the personality. When I met her, we just clicked. It really was love at first sight.'
He met Shona, 20, as soon as he arrived on the set of the show exactly a year ago and the pair have now been dating for the past ten months.

Matt told Closer magazine: 'We are both into our music. I play the guitar and Shona is an amazing singer, so we would hang out in each other's dressing rooms playing songs.'
And Matt said they quickly become inseparable after they started dating saying, 'she stole my heart'.
'If I am being really soppy, I will leave little notes around, telling her how much I love her.'
Matt says he was devastated when he learned his contract to play antiques shop manager Anthony Moon was ending.

He said: 'These things happen. The show has a new executive producer and she wanted to make changes.
'I am upset, but EastEnders has been amazing and hopefully it will be a springboard into something new.'
He added that he and Shona are currently planning a holiday together.
'We want to go somewhere like the Philippines, have a little log cabin on the beach and enjoy barbecues by the sea
